IRENA Opening the ENERGA Conference

ENERGA 2019 will gather, as in previous years, the most important representatives of the governmental and non-governmental sector, research and education institutions and the economy. The focus of the ENERG)A 2019 conference topics are:

  • Analysis of renewable energy market
  • Investments and integration of renewable energy sources in B&H, with the focus on the integration of wind farms
  • Unit 7 of the Tuzla thermal power plant
  • Retail electricity market in B&H
  • Biogas power plants - investment opportunities for farmers


International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) will open this year's ENERGA conference, with a topic - "Renewable Energy Market Analysis: South-East Europe".

IRENA's series Analysis of Renewable Energy Markets encompasses knowledge and experiences from different regions and identifies burning trends in public policy and market development. The first four editions included the Persian Gulf (2015 and 2019), Latin America (2016) and Southeast Asia (2018).

During the ENERGA conference, IRENA will present a report: "Analysis of the Renewable Energy Market: Southeast Europe", which outlines policies in the field of renewable energy sources, costs, opportunities and potentials in the region. The report addresses a number of important issues, from key technologies such as modern bioenergy, to a regional investment environment. The report also provides an overview of the socio-economic benefits of the development of renewable energy in Southeast Europe, including its impact on job creation, GDP and general well-being, according to IRENA.

ENERGA 2019 is being implemented under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of B&H, the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry and the Sarajevo Canton Government. Project partners are the Foreign Trade Chamber of B&H and the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of B&H, while the sponsors are the Office of the EU Special Representative Office in B&H, USAID EIA, UNDP and GIZ.
